Rose Medical Management Team
Todd Grimm
35-year veteran medical device engineer Todd Grimm cashed in his Medtronic stock in 1998 to form Grand Rapids-based Rose Medical, fulfilling a life-long dream of entrepreneurship. Todd, an experienced machinist, product engineer, and manufacturing engineer, continues to aid the engineering group with process and tooling development for more challenging projects. Over the years Todd’s “Never Quit” attitude has resulted in solutions for countless manufacturing challenges.
Steve Gronsman
With nearly 30 years’ experience in the medical device industry, plus personal patents for medical devices, and experience that encompasses the entire spectrum of production, Steve guides the machine design and fabrication side of Rose Medical. His experience in this industry began in Grand Rapids at DLP, Inc which eventually was purchased by Medtronic. Steve’s team of engineers and technicians is responsible for all manufacturing equipment in our clean rooms, which is a large undertaking because more than 90% of our equipment is custom designed and built by Rose Medical for a specific project.
Eric Vroegop
After 25-year industry veteran Eric Vroegop received his Mechanical Engineering Master’s from Vanderbilt University, he joined DLP where he met Todd and Steve. At DLP he gained medical device experience in roles of Product Support Engineer, Sr. Design Engineer, and Group Leader. After Medtronic purchased DLP in 1995, Eric was part of several product launches focusing on Minimal Invasive Cardiac Surgery.
In his time with Rose Medical, Eric helped transition the company from a machine builder to a full service, ISO-13485 certified, contract manufacturer. He coordinates the engineering and operations groups to ensure manufacturing is meeting the quality and timeline requirements of our customers.
Chris Zandstra
Chris joined Rose in 2007 after graduating with a Mechanical Engineering degree from Calvin College. Chris is the first point of contact for new customers and coordinates the project engineering group as they help customers with design for manufacturing, prototyping, and stepping into full scale manufacturing.
Cortney Welz
Cortney joined Rose Medical in 2015 to take on the growing need for a full time human resources manager, bringing with her 11 years of experience in human resources. She works hard to ensure that Rose meets our goals of stewardship, growing people, and teamwork. Her expertise and experience in HR are a huge asset to the management team and she also works closely with our safety committee to make sure Rose employs best practices.
Karen Kaiserlian
Karen has been working in medical device manufacturing for 22 years and has been with Rose for the last 17 years. She started as one of Rose’s first production assemblers and was promoted to team leader in 2004 and has done an amazing job growing the manufacturing team from a few employees to a full staff across multiple shifts. Karen plays a critical role in the day to day operations of Rose Medical. She coordinates a group of assistant team leaders to ensure that all our clean room manufacturing is staying on track. Karen is a key part of ensuring that our assembly staff are highly trained and well directed.
